The Importance of Independence for Equitable Life Action Groups

EMAG is not only dedicated to promoting the best interests of the general body of Equitable policy-holders rather than the interests of any one class of policy-holders at the expense of others. EMAG is also independent of any commercial organisation. EMAG believes that such independence is important since, if it were to become associated with any commercial organisation, it might feel inhibited from taking or advocating action in the interest of policy-holders at large if such action might result in recommendations by the associated commercial organisation turning out to be ill-advised.

EMAG is the only action group for Equitable policy-holders that is independent of any commercial organisation and completely independent of sectional interests within the Society, with a clear organisation and transparent funding, through its Subscription.

There is nothing to prevent members of other action groups joining EMAG and we would encourage them to do so if they believe that is is important to have one independent, transparently organised and non-sectional action group acting in the general interest. The subscription to EMAG is a modest £20 (see Subscription Form).
